About Us
Are you a fiduciary?
Yes. As fiduciaries, we are legally and ethically required to act in your best interest, ahead of our own. It is the standard we hold ourselves to on every recommendation, and it has been the foundation of our practice for more than three decades.
Being a fiduciary is not a feature we add on. It is the starting point of every relationship, because we believe our clients don't care how much we know until they know how much we care.
How long have you been doing this?
Marshall Wealth Management brings more than 34 years of experience helping individuals, families, and business owners plan for and navigate retirement. Our team is based in one office in Norwell, MA, with specialists across investments, tax, insurance, and estate planning who collaborate on your plan together.
What is The Marshall Plan?
The Marshall Plan is our organized approach to retirement planning. Rather than focusing on a single product, it examines seven key financial planning components together: estate and legacy planning, retirement planning, income tax planning, investment planning, cash flow and budget planning, insurance and risk management, and assistance to loved ones.
The value comes from coordinating these areas so they work with one another, rather than treating any one of them in isolation.
How can I verify your background?
We encourage it. You can review our firm and advisors anytime through FINRA's BrokerCheck, a free public tool that shows registration, experience, and background. Knowing exactly who you're working with is a fair and important part of choosing an advisor.
Fees & Getting Started
How are your fees structured?
We believe in clear, transparent conversations about cost. How we're compensated depends on the services involved, and we'll walk you through it plainly before you make any decision, so you always understand what you're paying for and why. There's no cost or obligation for an initial meeting.
What happens in a first meeting?
The first meeting is a conversation, not a sales pitch. We want to understand your situation, your goals, and what's on your mind, because we love to listen. From there we can explain how we might help and what working together would look like. It's complimentary, and there's no obligation to move forward.
Do I need a certain amount of assets to work with you?
The best first step is simply a conversation. Everyone's situation is different, and the most useful thing we can do is understand yours and be honest about whether and how we can help. Reach out and we'll take it from there.
Where are you located, and do you meet virtually?
Our office is at 52 Accord Park Drive, Norwell, MA 02061, serving clients across the South Shore and beyond. We're glad to meet in person or virtually, whichever is more convenient for you.
Retirement & Income
How do I know if my retirement savings will last?
That's one of the most common concerns we hear, and it's the right question to ask. The answer depends on more than the size of your savings; it depends on how you turn them into income, how you manage taxes and withdrawals, and how you protect against risks like market downturns and rising costs. A retirement income plan is designed to answer this question specifically for your situation.
What is sequence of returns risk, and why does it matter?
Sequence of returns risk is the danger that poor investment returns early in retirement do lasting damage, even if your long-term average looks fine. Once you're withdrawing money, a downturn forces you to sell more of your holdings to cover the same income, leaving less to recover when markets rebound.
It's one of the main reasons a retirement-income portfolio is built differently than a portfolio focused purely on growth. Understanding and planning for it is central to protecting your income through retirement.
When should I claim Social Security?
There's no single right answer, and it can meaningfully affect the total income you receive over your lifetime. The best timing depends on your health, your other income sources, and, for married couples, how the two benefits coordinate. It's worth reviewing carefully rather than defaulting to the earliest date, and it's an area we help clients think through.
Who We Help
Do you work with union members?
Yes. We work with many union members and their families, and we understand the specific benefits, pensions, and decisions that come with that. Whether you were referred by a fellow member or found us on your own, we're glad to help you make sense of your options.
Can you help with 457 and 403(b) plans?
Yes. We regularly help public sector and nonprofit employees navigate 457 and 403(b) plans, including how they fit into a broader retirement income strategy. If you have one of these plans, we can help you understand your choices.
Do you work with people who are already retired, or only those approaching retirement?
Both. We work with people planning for retirement and people already living in it. In fact, some of the most important decisions, around income, taxes, and protecting your savings, come during retirement, not just before it.
